Can AI fix dental billing? Overjet’s new network hopes to make pricing clear

Overjet, a dental AI platform, has launched the Dental Clarity Network, a collaboration between dentists and health insurance providers to provide real-time cost estimates and insurance coverage information for dental procedures. The network's first initiative is ReviewPass, a program that helps deliver accurate cost estimates and insurance coverage information to patients, reducing the likelihood of "surprise" bills. ReviewPass uses AI to quickly determine if a procedure is covered under a patient's insurance plan and estimates the cost, eliminating the need for dentists and insurers to go back and forth for weeks. The Dental Clarity Network has partnered with major insurers like MetLife and Humana, and the Dental Care Alliance, which comprises over 400 dental practices in 24 states. Overjet estimates that ReviewPass will reach over 100 million dental patients in the US. The platform aims to reduce costs and provide more clarity to patients, who often have to wait weeks to find out if a procedure is covered by their insurance plan. Most dentists are unaware of the intricacies of each dental insurance plan, leading to uncertainty and administrative waste. Overjet's CEO, Wardah Inam, believes that the platform will significantly reduce costs for insurers and providers, which may benefit patients. The increased transparency in pricing is driven by the potential cost-savings, which will benefit all parties involved. Inam thinks that once dentists and patients experience the convenience of real-time cost estimates, they will not go back to the old way of doing things.
