CES 2026: HP says the HyperX Omen Max 16 is the most powerful 16-inch gaming laptop in the world

HP is rebranding its gaming hardware, prioritizing the HyperX brand. The new HyperX Omen Max 16, unveiled at CES 2026, aims to be the most powerful gaming laptop. It boasts fully internal cooling, a crucial factor for portability despite the high power requirements. The laptop incorporates cutting-edge Intel and AMD chips and supports up to an NVIDIA RTX 5090 GPU, achieving a total platform power of 300 watts. Enhancements include a third cooling fan and HP's Fan Cleaner technology to prevent overheating and dust build-up. The design retains HyperX's matte black aesthetic with some colored accents and a per-key RGB backlit keyboard. The laptop features a 2.5K OLED display that has highly saturated colors, although it has a glossy coating. Despite its high performance, the Max 16's power brick is relatively compact. The laptop might be a good choice for those wanting a desktop replacement, minus the big 18-inch models. Pricing and availability are unknown, but it's expected to launch this spring. HP is also updating the Omen 15 and 16 with new components and HyperX branding.
