Cloud WAN under the hood: A closer look at its differentiated networking capabilities

Google Cloud has partnered with various networking and network security vendors to provide a robust ecosystem for its customers. The Cloud WAN solution offers global connectivity with a fully managed WAN built on Google's Premium Tier infrastructure. This infrastructure spans over 200 countries and 2 million miles of subsea and terrestrial cables, providing a robust foundation for global connectivity. Cloud WAN provides up to 40% TCO savings over a customer-managed global WAN and up to 40% improved performance compared to the public internet. The solution also offers a robust and adaptable ecosystem that includes market-leading SD-WAN partners, managed SSE vendors, DDI solutions, and network automation and intelligence solutions. These partners are integrated into the networking fabric using Cloud WAN architecture components. Google Cloud's enhanced networking capabilities, such as multi-tenant high-scale NAT and zonal affinity, allow ISVs to integrate their offerings natively with the networking fabric. Source-based NAT rules in Cloud NAT service enable ISVs to NAT their traffic on a granular, per-tenant level, providing a scalable way to handle address translation in a service-chaining environment. Zonal affinity minimizes cross-zone traffic, keeping data local, for improved performance and lower cost of operations. With its simplicity, high performance, and cost-efficiency, Cloud WAN is revolutionizing global enterprise connectivity and security.
