Comcast's New Plans Dump the Data Caps

Comcast is introducing new broadband plans that eliminate the 1.2TB data cap for residential customers. The company had previously enforced a data cap since 2008, increasing it over the years to 1.25TB in 2020. Existing customers will need to switch to the new plans to benefit from the cap removal. The new plans are designed to be simple and transparent, with no hidden fees or confusion. The plans were made available on Comcast's sign-up pages on Thursday morning. The monthly rates for the new plans are similar to those announced in April, with prices ranging from $40 to $130 per month depending on the speed. The plans offer download speeds of 300Mbps, 500Mbps, 1Gbps, and 2Gbps, with upload speeds starting at 40Mbps. The plans also include one year of Xfinity Mobile wireless service, which combines Verizon's coverage with Comcast's Wi-Fi network. Customers can choose from one-year or five-year rate locks, with prices increasing after the lock period ends. Overall, the new plans aim to provide customers with more flexibility and transparency in their broadband service.
