I used to think the right way to prepare Iceberg lettuce was to remove the outer leaves, cut the base, rinse the whole head under water, dry it and then cut it up. But I’ve noticed that even the inner leaves sometimes have bugs or are starting to rot. That means if I followed the method above, those things could end up in my food.
So what’s actually the correct way to clean it? Should I really peel off all the leaves one by one, rinse and inspect each individually before using them? That feels like a lot of effort. Am I overthinking this? submitted by /u/Chemical-Funny-8596
