Google has expanded the capabilities of Gemini in Google Drive, allowing users to create new Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and folders directly from the side panel. This update introduces support for two new types of prompts: "Create a new folder" and "Create a new Google Doc, Sheet or Slide". By typing these prompts, Gemini will create the new file or folder and provide a link. This feature aims to streamline file and folder creation, eliminating the need to leave the side panel. To access Gemini, users need to have smart features and personalization turned on, which admins can enable in the Admin console. The feature is available for Google Workspace customers with Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and those with the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-on. The rollout will begin on March 10, 2025, and will take up to 15 days to reach all users. This feature is part of the Google Workspace plans, which now include the best of Google AI. Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise add-ons are no longer available for purchase as of January 15, 2025.
