Create names for group direct messages in Google Chat

Google Chat is introducing named group direct messages for easier conversation management. This feature allows users to assign names to both new and existing group chats. Named groups remain within the direct messages section and are private to the group members. The group name is visible to all participants in the conversation. There are no admin controls for this feature. The rollout begins on February 13, 2025, for Rapid Release web users and February 28, 2025, for Scheduled Release web users. Android and iOS rollouts begin on February 27 and March 4, 2025, respectively, for both release tracks. This feature is available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google account users. More information is available in the Google Help Center.
