Databricks ADBC connector for Power BI and Microsoft Fabric (Generally Available)

Power BI is transitioning from ODBC to ADBC drivers for Power Query connectors, starting with Databricks and Azure Databricks. Existing connections will continue to function as the migration is opt-in. This transition brings improved security through memory safety and garbage collection. It ensures no changes to existing ODBC connector behavior when using separately installed drivers. ADBC offers efficient large dataset support by leveraging Arrow data with minimal overhead. Supported authentication methods for Databricks ADBC include OAuth and Microsoft Entra ID. Users can test the new driver by opting in per connection with Implementation="2.0" in the Power Query source step. Alternatively, validation can be done for a specific workspace or enabled tenant-wide by administrators. It is recommended to start validating soon to ensure a smooth transition.
