Demystifying the Client Repeatable Feature in Edge

Microsoft Edge uses Autofill to pre-populate form fields, relying on the Parsable Name of a field to identify its data type, sharing suggestions across forms with the same name. Frequently Saved Data (FSD) stores these form data entries, a feature shared with other Chromium-based browsers like Chrome, functioning across various websites. The Client Repeatable Feature is a unique Edge feature designed to reduce repetitive Autofill suggestions, blocking them after five unique values are consecutively entered in a single form. This blocking is form-specific, applying only to forms identified by a unique Form SignatureV2 hash. Autofill suggestions can be unblocked by re-entering a previously saved value or by clearing all Autofill data in Edge settings. Edge's debugging options, including the "Show Autofill Predictions" flag, allow users to inspect Autofill metadata and understand why suggestions appear or disappear. Autofill data is stored locally in a SQLite database called Web Data, which can be examined for advanced analysis. The Last Used Feature, determining the most recently used value based on the entire form's information, does not affect the blocking behavior. Understanding FSD and the Client Repeatable Feature clarifies the sometimes-confusing behavior of Autofill in Edge making it more predictable.
