Device Streaming and Android skills - available in Android CLI
Android developers now have enhanced command-line tools to improve their workflow. The Android CLI facilitates the creation, building, testing, and management of Android projects. A significant new feature is the integration of Android Device Streaming, allowing agents to access real physical devices remotely. This capability enables developers to test hardware and OS-specific issues without needing direct physical access. Agents can interact with these remote devices securely, performing tasks like deploying builds and capturing logs. To further assist developers, Google is expanding its Android skills repository. These skills provide structured instructions that ground AI agents with official guidance and up-to-date information. With over 20 skills available, agents can now handle complex tasks like auditing Play policy compliance and implementing credential restoration. A particular spotlight is on the Wear OS Compose Material 3 skill, which helps agents navigate the unique design patterns of Wear OS development. Early adopters have reported substantial productivity gains from utilizing these skills.
