Disinformation and cyberattacks in Russia’s hybrid war against Ukraine. DDoS attack hits Israeli telcos. Captured tools are old news. Recent trends in cybercrime.

A new destructive wiper malware has been discovered in Ukraine, which is believed to be part of the ongoing cyber attacks related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Researchers have identified cloud native technologies being used in these cyber attacks, and financially motivated threat actors are now targeting Russian targets. Hackers in Kyiv are taking advantage of the wartime situation to carry out cyber attacks. The conflict has also led to a division among cybercriminals on underground forums, with some supporting Russia and others supporting Ukraine. This division has increased the threat to Western targets. A protester recently disrupted a live broadcast on Russia's most-watched news show, shouting "Stop the war!" A denial-of-service attack knocked Israeli government sites offline, and China claims to have captured an NSA spy tool that had already leaked. A report by Cequence Security reveals the top three attack trends in API security, and ransomware variants continue to pose a threat in the fourth quarter of 2021.
