SpaceX has reportedly shown investors a prototype for a new device that could compete with Apple. The device is described as a slim, sleek handset designed to enhance human interaction with artificial intelligence. It features a proprietary operating system, a Qualcomm chipset, and integrates AI technology from SpaceX's subsidiary, xAI. This concept appears to align with Elon Musk's past discussions of an "everything app" similar to China's WeChat. SpaceX presented this prototype to investors and stakeholders as part of preparations for its potential IPO, though the project is in early development and its final design is uncertain. Musk has previously alluded to developing a smartphone, particularly if X were removed from app stores or if Apple and Google engaged in what he considers "bad things" like censorship. Despite expressing a strong aversion to making phones, he conceded one of his companies might do so if necessary. Earlier this year, Musk publicly stated SpaceX was not developing a phone, contradicting reports that investors were briefed on his long-held vision for a device integrating Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI technologies. Musk has since explicitly denied these reports, labeling them "utterly false."
