Employee resource groups (ERGs) have been part of Elastic's culture since 2016 and were formally recognized in 2021 to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion. Each ERG focuses on a shared identity, interest, or advocacy, with seven formal groups currently active: The Accessibles, Blasticians, ElastAsians, Elasticians Unidos, Rainbow Stack, Mil-asticians, and Women of Elastic. The Accessibles ERG promotes awareness and community for differently abled employees, recognizing both visible and invisible disabilities. Claire Burn and Craig Abbott lead the group, aiming to integrate accessibility into engineering processes and inspire change. The ERG is open to all Elasticians interested in accessibility, regardless of personal experience or disability status. To raise visibility and foster community, The Accessibles holds events such as technical seminars, mental health talks, and social activities during Elastic's Accessibility Awareness Month in August. Regular meetings provide a non-judgmental space for discussion and growth. The ERG aims to create a sense of belonging and inclusivity for all Elasticians who identify with its mission.
