ESPN and other channels return to DirecTV as it finally reaches a deal with Disney

ESPN and other Disney-owned channels have returned to DirecTV after a two-week blackout due to a contract dispute. The new multi-year contract includes Disney's full linear network suite and package options for genre-focused channel bundles and Disney's streaming services. ESPN's upcoming direct-to-consumer service will be included for free. The deal provides customers with more flexible viewing options. The blackout began in early September, coinciding with the start of football season. Sports fans were particularly affected by the blackout, as ESPN is a major broadcaster of sports events. Disney and DirecTV released a joint statement announcing the new contract and the restoration of all affected channels. The new deal allows customers to customize their video experience. Disney thanked viewers for their patience and expressed satisfaction in restoring its networks in time for major events. ESPN's direct-to-consumer service is expected to launch this fall.
