Excessive epithelial mechanosensation drives nociceptive innervation and chronic bladder pain via the PIEZO1-SLC7A11-glutamate axis
Chronic bladder infection rewires epithelial mechanotransduction through IL-6-dependent PIEZO1 activation, triggering glutamate-mediated nociceptive hyperinnervation and persistent bladder pain. These findings identify a neuroepithelial pathway linking epithelial stress to chronic visceral pain.
