FBI Has Launched 250 Probes Tied To Online Networks That Prey On Minors

The FBI is actively investigating around 250 individuals connected to violent online networks targeting minors. These networks, known as "764" and other names, operate across various online platforms. The FBI is alarmed by the predators who befriend and manipulate vulnerable individuals, including children, into engaging in harmful behaviors. This includes creating graphic content, self-harm, and even suicide. These networks often utilize threats, blackmail, and manipulation to coerce victims into producing and sharing harmful content. Victims, typically aged 10-17, are often targeted on social media, gaming platforms, and mobile apps. The predators exploit vulnerabilities like mental health struggles, establishing trust before coercing their victims. This coercion includes threats to share explicit content, creating intense fear and control. The ultimate goal for some predators is to coerce victims to live-stream their own suicides. Warning signs include mood changes, self-harm scars, and receiving anonymous gifts. Recently, a sweep resulted in the arrest of 205 child-sex predators and the rescue of 115 children. The FBI is committed to pursuing and prosecuting those who harm children, promising severe consequences.
