Former Annapurna leads take charge of Take-Two’s discarded indie games

Annapurna Interactive, known for publishing indie titles like Stray, has undergone significant changes. The former employees of Annapurna Interactive have formed a new company, which will take over the games portfolio of Private Division, a former indie label of Take-Two Interactive. Take-Two sold Private Division to Haveli Investments, a Texas-based private equity firm, last year. Around the same time, the staff at Annapurna Interactive resigned en masse after negotiations to spin off the company broke down. The former employees of Annapurna Interactive have now partnered with Haveli Investments to form a new company. This new company will oversee Private Division's existing and in-development titles. Private Division's existing employees will face layoffs, but the details are currently unclear. The new company will be responsible for games such as Tales of the Shire, a Lord of the Rings-meets-Animal Crossing game, and Project Bloom, a forthcoming game from Pokémon developer Game Freak. The fate of Annapurna Interactive's own portfolio of games remains uncertain. The new company's name has not been disclosed.
