Frigidaire’s new oven lets you bake pizza at a sizzling 750°F

Frigidaire, known for inventing the first self-contained electric refrigerator over 100 years ago, has introduced a new innovation: a home oven capable of reaching unprecedented temperatures for residential use. This new Stone-Baked Pizza Oven can reach 750°F, significantly higher than the typical 600°F cap found in U.S. ovens. The oven utilizes a specially designed stone tray and a stainless steel heat shield to create the ideal environment for baking pizzas with crispy crusts. This development taps into America's significant pizza consumption and its multi-billion dollar industry. Frigidaire's goal was to allow consumers to replicate the experience of restaurant-quality pizza at home, a concept that originated from discussions around 2021. This innovation follows Frigidaire's earlier success in integrating an air-fry feature into ovens. Achieving the 750°F temperature required extensive collaboration with safety regulatory bodies like UL to ensure the oven's safety features were robust. The oven includes a user-friendly interface to guide the preheating and cooking process, with pizzas typically cooking in about two minutes. Frigidaire plans to promote the oven through a mobile kitchen tour to allow consumers to taste the difference. The brand faces the challenge of overcoming its strong association with refrigerators and educating consumers about its oven innovations. Ultimately, Frigidaire aims to balance its legacy of reliability with its commitment to exciting new product development.
