DNA writing is entering a period of rapid innovation, with enzymatic and cellular approaches challenging decades-old chemistry. Although none yet delivers long, accurate DNA at the scale biology ultimately requires, continued advances promise to remove one of the field’s most persistent bottlenecks and enable experiments that are currently out of reach.
