AI-powered speaker recognition is now available on all Teams Rooms on Windows, regardless of microphone type. This technology analyzes vocal characteristics to identify individual speakers in meetings. Speaker recognition enhances meetings with precise speaker attribution, enabling intelligent insights from Copilot. It suppresses background noise and enables intelligent recap, allowing users to easily track speaker contributions and generate summaries. Without speaker recognition, meeting audio is attributed to the room rather than individual speakers, limiting identification and action item tracking. Teams Rooms with speaker recognition can identify speakers in real-time, ensuring clear voice capture for all participants. IT admins can easily enable voice enrollment for users and Teams Rooms using PowerShell scripts. End users can create voice profiles in the Teams desktop client. Microsoft prioritizes data security, with biometric profiles encrypted at rest and in transit and stored in GDPR-compliant regions. The feature is currently available on Teams Rooms on Windows, with plans to expand to Teams desktop and Teams Rooms on Android in the future.
