Gmail is getting a Gemini AI overhaul

Google is integrating more Gemini AI features into Gmail, offering a mix of free and subscription-based options. Premium users gain access to AI Overviews, which allows natural language searches within their inbox. AI Overviews also provides free thread summaries, facilitating easier catch-ups on lengthy email chains. Proofread, a subscription-only feature, acts as a Grammarly-like tool for enhancing email writing. The AI Inbox, another premium feature, aims to filter clutter and highlight important information based on user interactions. Free features include Help Me Write, enabling users to generate email copy from prompts. Suggested Replies, an improved version of Smart Replies, also streamlines email responses for everyone. These Gemini-powered features are initially available to English speakers in the US. Google plans to expand their availability to more languages and regions in the coming months. The features aim to assist users in managing and creating emails more efficiently within Gmail. Some features require subscriptions like Google AI Pro or Ultra to unlock their full functionalities.
