Godzilla Minus One, a critical and commercial success, is getting a sequel titled Godzilla Minus Zero. The film will world-premiere at the New York Film Festival, a departure from its usual artistic focus. Writer, director, and VFX artist Takashi Yamazaki returns for the sequel. The story picks up two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One. It will again feature Kōichi Shikishima, his wife Noriko, and their adopted daughter Akiko. The previous film explored Kōichi's guilt over a failed kamikaze mission and Japan's post-war devastation. Godzilla Minus Zero will introduce a new monster threat, a dragon-like creature named Ghidorah. This creature is a familiar foe to kaiju fans. Despite its monster-movie premise, the film is expected to offer smart social commentary. The sequel promises jaw-dropping special effects, building on the success of its predecessor.
