NotebookLM, a Google research tool, is launching a new feature called Video Overviews. This tool automatically generates video-like content based on user-provided documents, images, diagrams, and quotes. Currently, Video Overviews are only available in English, with plans to add more languages soon. The feature creates slideshows with narration rather than traditional videos. Google claims this format is particularly effective for explaining data and complex concepts. They also intend to expand the capabilities of this tool beyond slideshows in the future. Users can adjust playback speed and skip forward or backward by ten seconds within the overviews. Additionally, NotebookLM's Studio tab is receiving a visual refresh in the coming weeks. This development follows recent updates, including the release of a dedicated NotebookLM app in May. The platform also introduced curated "featured notebooks" for easier user experimentation. Audio-only overviews are now accessible in over 50 languages.
