Google Research at Google I/O 2025
Google I/O showcases advanced technologies that can be used to innovate and provide new experiences. Many of these technologies emerged from years of work within Google Research, building on breakthroughs in AI and computer science. This year's I/O highlights the impact of research on reality, with decades of research now becoming a reality for people, businesses, and communities worldwide. Google Research has made significant contributions to healthcare, including MedGemma, a model for multimodal medical text and image comprehension, and AMIE, a research AI agent for medical diagnostic conversations. LearnLM, a family of fine-tuned models for learning, is now available in Gemini 2.5, making it the world's leading model for learning. Google Research has also advanced research into multilinguality, efficiency, and multimodal factuality, contributing to AI Mode in Search and Imagen4. Sparkify, a new Labs experiment, turns any question into an animated video, and FireSat, a constellation of satellites, enables earlier and more accurate global wildfire detection. Google Research has also made progress in quantum AI, AI co-scientist, and accelerating scientific discovery in various fields. The research highlighted at I/O represents ongoing work by Google Research teams driving breakthroughs across various fields and bringing them to reality. The "magic cycle" between research and real-world application is increasingly faster and broader in scope, leading to greater impact on people, businesses, science, and society.
