Google will use more mics and Gemini AI to get you to talk to your TV

Google has announced that it will be integrating its Gemini technology into Google TV, making it more intuitive and helpful for users. The update, set to arrive later this year, will allow users to search for content and ask questions without starting with "Hey Google". Users will be able to search for media by asking specific questions, such as "What are the latest movies from Disney?", and receive results from YouTube. The integration will also enable users to interact with smart home devices, such as viewing video doorbell feeds. Google had previously brought similar Gemini-powered features to its Google TV Streamer. Additionally, Google TVs will be outfitted with far-field microphones, allowing users to use voice commands without speaking into their remote. Proximity sensors will also be included, detecting when users are close to the TV and displaying personalized and informative widgets. Google is not the only company bringing AI to TVs, as LG and Samsung have announced that they will be integrating Microsoft's Copilot assistant into their TVs as well. This move is part of the growing trend of incorporating AI technology into TVs. The integration of Gemini into Google TV is expected to enhance the overall user experience and provide more convenient and personalized features.
