Google Workspace Updates Weekly Recap - December 20, 2024

Google Workspace has introduced three new updates, including instant video playback after uploads in Google Drive, updated keyboard shortcuts for Google Groups, and SOC 1 compliance for Gemini. The instant video playback feature eliminates wait times between upload and playback, and is available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. The updated keyboard shortcuts for Google Groups improve accessibility and are available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. Gemini has achieved SOC 1 compliance, in addition to SOC 2 and SOC 3, and is available to Google Workspace customers with a Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, or Education Premium add-on. The migration of messages from Microsoft Teams to Google Chat is available in open beta, allowing admins to migrate conversations from channels in Microsoft Teams to spaces in Google Chat. Admins can also set up single sign-on with custom OpenID Connect profiles in open beta. The AppSheet Admin console is now generally available, allowing admins to monitor and manage AppSheet usage in their organization. Two new admin settings have been launched, allowing admins to control whether users can add recovery email and phone information to their Google Workspace account. Several features have completed their rollouts, including a new design and accessibility improvements for embedded Google Calendars, a new density setting in Google Chat, and the ability to add multiple multimedia files to a single message in Google Chat.
