The M4 Pro and M4 Max chips are up to 40% and 25% faster for graphics than the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips, respectively. The new 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 Max chip has up to 85% as fast graphics as the Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra chip, despite having 36 fewer GPU cores. A comparison of average Metal scores shows the Mac Studio with M2 Ultra has a score of 221,646, while the MacBook Pro with M4 Max has a score of 190,329. The MacBook Pro with M3 Max has a score of 154,860, and the Mac mini with M4 Pro has a score of 110,556. The MacBook Pro with M3 Pro has a score of 78,681. These results indicate significant improvements in graphics performance for the new M4 chips. The M4 Max chip's performance is particularly notable, given its fewer GPU cores compared to the M2 Ultra chip.
