Here's What's New With Visual Intelligence in iOS 26

Apple's Visual Intelligence, a feature gaining new capabilities in iOS 26, expands beyond the camera to analyze on-screen content. Users can now take screenshots and utilize Visual Intelligence to identify objects and gather information. This new functionality allows for "Highlight to Search", enabling users to select specific objects in screenshots for image searches, similar to Android's Circle to Search. Furthermore, users can directly ask questions about the screenshot content through ChatGPT using the "Ask" feature. The "Search" button provides information by searching with Google. Visual Intelligence automatically identifies certain objects, offering quick information access with a tap. The expanded object identification now includes art, books, and landmarks, in addition to existing categories. On-device identification is available for some objects, eliminating the need to connect to external services. Visual Intelligence requires Apple Intelligence and is limited to specific iPhone models. The feature is accessible via the Camera Control button, Action Button, or Control Center toggle. The iOS 26 update with these Visual Intelligence improvements will be released to the public in September.
