"He's a lunatic": Democrats shut down idea of Musk alliance after break with Trump

Democrats are distancing themselves from Elon Musk, despite his recent break with President Trump, as they see little political value and potential risk in embracing him as an ally. Musk's criticism of Trump's "One Big, Beautiful Bill" and his call for the president's impeachment have not won him any favor with Democrats. Many Democrats, including Rep. Greg Casar, believe that welcoming Musk back into the party would drive away working-class voters. Even Democrats who have previously expressed affinity for Musk, such as Rep. Ro Khanna, say the party should keep him at arm's length due to his erratic behavior and past actions. Democratic leaders, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, are also keeping their distance from Musk, with Jeffries pointing out that he helped put Trump into the White House. Some Democrats, like Rep. Jared Moskowitz, believe that if Musk becomes a spoiler for Republicans, it could ultimately help Democrats. Overall, Democrats are making it clear that Musk has no place in their party.
