Resolution and control of the hidden solution-phase chemistry of 5-aminovaleric acid added to perovskite precursor solutions is described for producing films with a near-unity mean peak photoluminescence quantum yield and near-infrared perovskite LEDs with enhanced external quantum efficiencies.
