Apple has unveiled the HomePod mini 2, available for pre-order with a launch date of October 30th. Notably, Siri AI support will arrive in a future software update, requiring an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad for personal context requests. The new speaker features an upgraded S10 chip, an improvement from the previous S5 chip, though its impact on audio is unconfirmed. Connectivity has been enhanced with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6 support. The HomePod mini 2 will also serve as default audio output for newer Macs.
