House GOP subpoenas Biden's personal physician

House Republicans have issued a subpoena to Kevin O'Connor, former President Biden's personal physician, as part of their investigation into Biden's health. The investigation is being led by House Oversight Committee chair James Comer, who is seeking information after new revelations about Biden's cognitive decline emerged in a recent book. Comer has also requested testimony from nine of Biden's former aides, including Neera Tanden, Anita Dunn, and Ron Klain. The subpoena requires O'Connor to appear at a deposition on June 27. Comer is investigating whether O'Connor contributed to hiding Biden's fitness to serve from the public. O'Connor's attorney had initially refused to accept the request for testimony, citing physician-patient privilege and medical ethics. Comer rejected these claims as "improper and illegitimate" and insisted that written questions would not be sufficient. The investigation is part of the committee's oversight and legislative duties. Comer is seeking to determine whether O'Connor played a role in concealing information about Biden's health from the public. The subpoena is a significant escalation of the investigation into Biden's health and fitness for office.
