How Apple's Hearing Aid and Hearing Test will work on AirPods Pro

Apple's AirPods Pro now offer a "clinically validated" Hearing Test feature on iOS 18. The test is performed through the earbuds and iPhone, providing results comparable to a physician's office. The results are stored in the Health app and can be retaken regularly. Hearing Test can recommend adjustments to Media Assist settings or suggest using the AirPods Pro Hearing Aid feature. Hearing Aid is designed for people with mild to moderate hearing loss, enhancing specific frequencies and allowing for customization of amplification and tone. Apple's Hearing Test complements the Hearing Protection feature already available on AirPods Pro. This three-pronged approach to hearing health includes awareness, assistance, and prevention. The Hearing Test and Hearing Aid features aim to improve everyday listening experiences, conversations, and entertainment for users with mild to moderate hearing loss. Pending FDA approval, these features will be available as part of an iOS 18 update this fall.
