A new Dragon spacecraft launched on a Falcon 9 rocket on June 25, 2025, carrying four astronauts to the International Space Station as part of Axiom Mission 4. The mission is sponsored in part by national governments, with each participant contributing to mission costs. The crew consists of former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson as mission commander, Indian Space Research Organisation astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla as mission pilot, and ESA astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski and Tibor Kapu as mission specialists. This mission marks the return to space of India, Poland, and Hungary, which previously participated in Soviet-era Interkosmos missions over 40 years ago. The Dragon capsule, named "Grace," is expected to dock with the ISS at 7AM Eastern on June 26. NASA will provide live coverage of the docking starting at 5AM Eastern, which can be watched on the NASA+ website. The astronauts will spend 14 days on the ISS, conducting research experiments representing 31 countries and covering a range of topics in life, biological, and material sciences. The experiments will be conducted alongside the other ISS residents. Axiom Mission 4 is the second mission sponsored by national governments. The mission aims to advance scientific knowledge and promote international cooperation in space exploration.
