iFixit wants to fix the soldering iron

iFixit introduces FixHub, a USB-C soldering iron designed for easy repairs and mobility. Frustrated with traditional soldering irons, iFixit aimed to create a smarter, more flexible tool. The 100-watt iron heats up in five seconds and features an accelerometer for idle detection and cooling. An LED ring indicates temperature status, and a safety feature cuts power when dropped. The FixHub Power Station is a 55Wh battery pack that provides portable power and temperature control. Both products are modular and repairable, aligning with iFixit's commitment to serviceability. The packaging includes an iFixit screwdriver for easy disassembly. iFixit hopes users will continue repairing their electronics with FixHub for many years. FixHub products will be available in the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe from October 15th. The Smart Soldering Iron costs $80, the Soldering Station (iron and battery pack) costs $250, and the Soldering Toolkit (including accessories) costs $300.
