Improved comments experience in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides on Android tablets

Google is introducing an updated comments experience for Android tablets in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. This update brings improved design and filtering functionality, matching the web experience. Users can now view the first comment and two most recent replies from a comment thread, with the option to show all comments. The update also allows for in-context commenting, similar to the web experience, taking advantage of larger screen real estate on tablets. Navigation tabs and filters within the comments panel help users easily find relevant comments. There is no admin control for this feature, and end users can access the comments panel by tapping on the comment button on the top app bar. The rollout will start on October 21, 2024, for Rapid Release domains and on October 29, 2024, for Scheduled Release domains. The feature will be available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. The rollout will be gradual, taking up to 15 days for feature visibility. Users can visit the Google Help Center to learn more about using comments, action items, and emoji reactions.
