Instagram finally has an iPad app 15 years after it first launched
Instagram has finally released a native iPad app after fifteen years. The app boasts a redesigned interface optimized for the larger screen. It defaults to a Reels feed upon opening, a significant departure from the phone app. Users can now view posts and Reels chronologically, a feature returning to the standard app as well. The larger screen allows for simultaneous viewing of comments and videos on Reels. Direct messaging also benefits from the extra space, mirroring the Messenger web client. This launch contradicts a previous statement by Instagram head Adam Mosseri downplaying the iPad market. Mosseri previously cited insufficient user base as the reason for delaying the app. The new iPad app showcases a significant redesign taking advantage of tablet capabilities. Despite past hesitation, Instagram has ultimately delivered a dedicated iPad experience.
