Instagram is running another test of a repost feature

Instagram is testing a repost feature that allows users to reshare posts directly to their main feed. This new feature, currently in testing, differs from the existing option to share posts to Stories. A Meta representative has confirmed the ongoing tests but provided no further details. This isn't the first time Instagram has explored reposting; similar features were tested in 2017 and 2022. The persistence in pursuing this feature, despite its presence on other platforms, is notable. Instagram already offers various content types and sharing options, including posts, Stories, Reels, and DMs. The existing content types allow users to share their own or others' content in different ways. Introducing reposting could potentially offer more ways to share and resurface content within the feed. However, it might also complicate user experience due to different content sharing rules across formats. The update confirms the test's existence and provides additional context.
