iOS 26's Digital Glass Design: Home Screen Widgets, Camera, and More

Mark Gurman has shared his expectations for WWDC 2025, including details about the rumored new design of iOS 26. The new design is said to be inspired by visionOS, the operating system for Apple's Vision Pro headset, and is referred to as "digital glass". This design will feature more use of light and transparency throughout the operating system. Redesigned app icons are also expected, although they are not expected to be round. The toolbars and tabs will be redesigned with a focus on pop-out menus, giving the interface a fresh look. The Home Screen widgets have been redesigned to match the new "digital glass" aesthetic, creating a cohesive look. The glass-like design changes will also extend to other apps, including Safari, which will feature a more transparent address bar, and the Camera app, which will be revamped with a focus on simplicity. These design changes are expected to be implemented across all of Apple's operating systems, including iPadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26, and watchOS 26. Apple will announce iOS 26 and other software updates during its WWDC 2025 keynote on June 9, with the first beta expected to be released to developers shortly after. The final version of iOS 26 is likely to be released to the general public in September, following a period of testing and refinement.
