iOS 27 brings changes to Shared Albums in the Photos app. New Shared Albums will now store photos and videos in full resolution. Previously, photos in Shared Albums were resized to 2,048 pixels. This full-resolution storage in iOS 27 will now count against your iCloud storage limit. This includes any content added by other collaborators you invite. Previously, Shared Albums did not impact iCloud storage, allowing up to 5,000 items. Inviting others to contribute photos will also consume your iCloud storage. iOS 27 also allows friends and family to join and collaborate on Shared Albums via the web, even without an Apple device. A new feature offers temporary Shared Albums for short-term projects that do not consume iCloud storage. However, content in these temporary albums is deleted after 30 days if not saved. Existing Shared Albums remain unaffected by default, but can be upgraded to full resolution at the cost of iCloud storage.
