iPhone 17e to Use Same OLED Panel But Feature Slimmer Bezels

The iPhone 17e is expected to have slimmer bezels compared to its predecessor. The phone will likely retain the same OLED panel from the iPhone 14, as used in the 16e. BOE will be the primary supplier for the panels, with Samsung and LG also contributing. A previous rumor suggested the 17e might feature the Dynamic Island, but this is now less likely. Slimmer bezels are achievable without altering the display panel itself. Implementing the Dynamic Island requires significant hardware changes, increasing costs. Reusing components and keeping costs down is key to the "e" line's strategy. The 17e will likely continue to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. BOE can supply LTPS panels, which don't support the variable refresh rate found in more expensive models. The phone is anticipated to launch early next year, as supported by credible sources.
