iPhone 18 Pro and Foldable iPhone Tipped to Get Price Hikes Too

Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup and its first foldable iPhone are projected to launch at significantly higher prices this September. Leakers suggest the iPhone 18 Pro models will definitely see a price hike. The foldable iPhone, in particular, could be priced 10% to 20% higher than previous expectations, potentially exceeding $2,000, and even $3,000 for higher storage configurations. "Digital Chat Station" noted it's highly unlikely the iPhone 18 Pro series avoids a price increase. This could push the iPhone 18 Pro to a 9,999 yuan starting price in China, an 11% increase. This increase would translate to a U.S. starting price of around $1,220 for the iPhone 18 Pro. "Instant Digital" even suggested the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro Max could start at 10,999 or 11,499 yuan. This would be a 15% to 20% jump, potentially placing the U.S. starting price between $1,300 and $1,400. These price estimates align with reports on the rising cost of building the iPhone 18 Pro. The bill of materials for the iPhone 18 Pro could increase by roughly 25%, largely due to higher DRAM costs. To maintain current profit margins, Apple might need to charge around $1,369 for the iPhone 18 Pro. Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed these increases are unavoidable, citing soaring memory and storage chip costs.
