iPhone 18e Won't Get ProMotion Display, Says Leaker
The upcoming iPhone 18e will reportedly maintain the 60Hz display refresh rate of its predecessor, the iPhone 17e. This means it will lack the 120Hz ProMotion and Always-On display features expected in other iPhone 18 models. Competing Android phones in a similar price range already offer 120Hz screens. Apple's low-cost iPhone isn't projected to adopt an LTPO panel, necessary for dynamic refresh rates, until early 2028. This potential 2028 shift depends on Apple's development of "LTPO+" display technology. This advanced technology would use less battery power and is slated for higher-end 2028 models like the iPhone Air and foldable iPhone. Should LTPO+ development proceed, standard LTPO panels could then become available for the rest of the lineup. However, delays in LTPO+ could also postpone the introduction of LTPO panels to the iPhone 19e. Therefore, the timeline for advanced display features on the economy iPhone models remains uncertain.
