iPhone Driver's License Support Coming to Illinois

Currently, Illinois lacks a mobile license program, but development is underway. The state prioritizes security and plans rigorous testing to protect resident data. The target launch date is the end of 2025, but this timeline may prove challenging. Mobile IDs will supplement, not replace, physical licenses. Certain airports already accept digital licenses in Apple Wallet. Apple initially unveiled this Wallet feature in 2022, with several states already implementing it. Several other states are also in the process of adopting this digital ID system.
