iPhone Duo Jailbroken on Launch Day
Hacker team Calif has successfully jailbroken a newly released iPhone Duo running iOS 27.1. This achievement followed a similar jailbreak demonstration on an iPhone 18 Pro with iOS 27.0.1 last week. The team showed the iPhone Duo's interface with animated icons and widgets and a custom anime character displayed on screen. Calif has stated they will not be releasing a jailbreak tool for general public use. However, a proof of concept might be made available to showcase their findings. Security researcher Stefan Esser indicated that the jailbreak exploited vulnerabilities already disclosed or soon to be disclosed to Apple. Many of these vulnerabilities are expected to be patched in the upcoming iOS 27.2 update. Artificial intelligence played a role in the development of the jailbreak, though the specific methods were not elaborated upon. This demonstrates Calif's continued ability to find and exploit security flaws in Apple's operating systems. The jailbreak highlights ongoing security research and development within the hacking community.
