Keeping Cut Basil

I'm looking for some help. Anytime I cut basil I add it to a cup of water to keep on the counter until use, but without fail it wilts overnight. This also happens in the fridge so I'm at a complete loss. How do you store basil after buying? submitted by /u/MessyHouseReboot
