Kubernetes v1.37: Pod-Level Resource Managers graduated to Beta

Kubernetes v1.37 introduces Pod-Level Resource Managers to Beta status, allowing Kubelet's managers to utilize pod-level resource declarations. Previously, exclusive NUMA alignment for critical applications required dedicating cores to all containers, which was inefficient for sidecars. This new feature enables hybrid allocation, reserving NUMA-aligned resources for primary containers while shared pools accommodate sidecars. Sidecars gain NUMA alignment and protection without consuming dedicated cores. The Beta release includes the PodLevelResourceManagers feature gate, which is disabled by default, and enhancements to the PodResources API. The API now reports top-level cpu_ids and memory for pods, preventing double-counting in monitoring. Users can opt into this feature to manage resources more effectively. The goal is to provide better performance for critical workloads and more efficient resource utilization. Detailed documentation and tutorials are available for users to get started. Feedback is crucial as the feature progresses towards General Availability.
