I wish there was a better name for weirdly paternalistic "white guy goes to Africa" pop than, well, all that. You know what I mean, though, surely: it was the stuff Paul Simon trafficked in, painting an entire diverse continent as a mystical spiritual wonderland and its inhabitants as enlightened monks.
