L-type pyocins are a class of bacteriocin-like proteins with antibacterial activity. Here, the authors show that these proteins kill the pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa by inhibiting the BAM complex at the bacterial cell surface, halting outer-membrane protein assembly.
