looking for thick black chili sauce?

hi everyone! i recently had went to a chinese restaurant in costa rica and with the food they were serving some kind of black chili sauce. it was thicker than a chili oil, and spicier than lao gan ma. it also was a little sweet. any help finding out what it is would be appreciated because i can’t stop thinking about it ! submitted by /u/plutobb1200
